The Pickfair Community Center is a great resource for the Northwest Austin community, offering a variety of recreational and leisure activities. It is run by Dr. Christopher Fournier, who has extensive experience in the healthcare field. He has served as executive director of West Side Community Health Services, a nonprofit FQHC organization in St.
Paul, Minnesota, as Deputy Director of Health for the Ingham County Health Department in Lansing, Michigan, and as Executive Director of the Greater Elgin Family Care Center in Elgin, Illinois. He also helped form and operate the first national Medicaid Accountable Care Organization (ACO) led by an FQHC while in Minnesota and served as an expert consultant at the National Center for Advancing the Safety Net at Arizona State University. His goal was to transform the capacity of U. S.
safety net organizations to respond to payment and care reform initiatives in rapidly evolving financial and health care delivery environments. Dr. Fournier holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto, a Doctorate in Chiropractic from the National College of Chiropractic, and a Master's degree in Public Health from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He also completed a three-year research residency at the National University of Health Sciences. Nicholas Yagoda is the Medical Director of CommunityCare Health Centers.
He is responsible for providing clinical leadership, overseeing provider practice, and managing overall performance and progress of a diverse provider group that serves underserved residents of Austin and its surrounding area. Nancy Ban serves as Director of Operations for CommunityCare's health centers. She will manage daily business operations of the 27 CommunityCare health centers in and around Austin, as well as oversee management and growth of business units such as primary care, pediatric care, behavioral health, dental care, and specialty services lines. Prior to her current position, Nancy was Principal Healthcare Consultant for NEXXT Health Advisors in Massachusetts.
She has also worked at Central Maine Healthcare as Vice President of Operations and Strategic Initiatives, Vice President of Non-Intensive Care Services, Acting Director of Support Services System, and Executive Director of Office of Outcomes Management. Nancy has also spent time at Centura Health in Colorado as Special Project Manager and Chief of Staff. Joy Sloan is Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for CommunityCare Health Centers. She is responsible for overseeing fiscal operations for the organization. Before joining CommunityCare, Sloan was CFO at Eastland Memorial Hospital in Texas and held CFO positions at two FQHCs - one in Texas and one in Indiana.
With more than 13 years' experience in FQHC finance and two years' experience in hospital finance, she has a proven track record of balancing strong fiscal control with growing service lines. Joy holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Anderson University and a Master's degree in Healthcare Management from WGU. When she's not at work, Joy enjoys spending time with her family, doing yoga, hiking, and horseback riding. Yvonne Camarena is Nursing Director for CommunityCare's health centers. Before taking on her current role she was Director of Operations at CommunityCare.
Prior to joining CommunityCare she was Director of Operations at Tiburcio Vásquez Health Center in Northern California. Yvonne is a solution-focused administrator with extensive experience in clinical care, administrative operations, quality assurance, transforming health service delivery models, and more. She holds an Associate degree in Nursing from University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (formerly Pan-American University), a Nursing degree from University of Texas at Austin, and a Master's degree in Health Administration from Kaplan University. Yvonne has recently been appointed Adjunct Professor at School of Nursing at University of Texas at Austin. Trower serves as Director of Strategy for CommunityCare.
As Chief Strategy Officer (CSO), Trower leads strategic initiatives and planning efforts; oversees community participation and communications; expands grant management and philanthropic footprint; and continues to foster strong relationships with community partners. Trower has spent more than 18 years working as journalist and professional communicator - holding positions at Austin American-Statesman (mainly Senior Opinion & Commentary Editor) and University Communications at UT Austin; she has also worked as Adjunct Professor at Huston-Tillotson University and University of Texas at Austin. Trower holds Bachelor's & Master's degrees in Journalism from Northwestern University. Cristie Pellegrini is Vice President of Pharmacy Services for CommunityCare Health Centers. She has worked in health center space for over 20 years and is an expert on using federal 340B program to maximize savings for health centers while increasing patient access.
